You must have completed high school or passed an accredited high school equivalency test (such as the GED). Angel Caregiver Academy is a training school approved by the New Jersey Board of Nurses and Home Health Aides (CHHA). Licensing requires completing the school's curriculum and successfully completing the CHHA licensing exam. Candidates to become a CHHA license must complete 60 hours of online instruction combined with 16 hours of in-person clinical training.
Angel Caregiver Academy CHHA candidates must accept a 4-week school schedule that includes 15 hours of online material per week (a total of 60 hours). In addition, completing 16 hours of mandatory clinical skills training requires candidates to attend four weekly in-person sessions at the Angel Caregiver Academy offices. In-person instruction includes a review of the previous week's online material, along with 4 hours of hands-on training in clinical skills. Upon completing the combined curriculum (online and in-person), candidates sit for the New Jersey CHHA licensing exam.
The tests are performed at the Angel Caregiver Academy offices. At Angel Caregiver Academy, we do our best to prepare our students for a rewarding and satisfying career in home care. We believe that a good education means much more than acquiring knowledge, and we hope that our CHHA students will remain part of the Visiting Angels family throughout their careers. Start by researching the accredited caregiver training programs offered by accredited institutions.
For example, when seeking training for Alzheimer's and dementia care, the NCCDP stands out as the best institution. The NCCDP is recognized for its comprehensive programs and commitment to excellence in preparing caregivers for the challenges posed by these conditions. These programs cover essential topics, such as communication skills, infection control, and understanding the physical and emotional needs of care recipients. Look for programs that provide practical experience and practical training, as these elements are crucial for developing the necessary skills.
Designed to serve a diverse cohort, from individuals contemplating a career in care to family members taking on caring roles, and even experienced nursing assistants looking to update their knowledge, this program is of great value. In addition to all the wonderful ways caregivers help improve the lives of their clients and families, care shifts are flexible and can be adapted to the demands of their personal and family schedule. In fact, many of our adult caregivers appreciate the flexibility of care shifts because they adapt to the schedule when they are ready to attend an institute, university, or professional school. This program, designed specifically for New Jersey, ensures that caregivers are fully equipped with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for providing care, plus a solid understanding of New Jersey's legal and regulatory frameworks for healthcare, which encompass all vital issues as required state regulations.
The training of caregivers in the elderly care industry for the employment of professional caregivers meets the guidelines of the New Jersey State Department of Health.
